Craniopathy
Eighty percent of your nervous system is located in your skull. There are 22 bones in the skull that all move & they are connected together via the sutures. These bones move (and in conjunction with your sacrum) to “pump” cerebro-spinal fluid up and down your spine, every time you breathe. This CSF fluid aka the “glymphatic” system nourishes the brain AND removes waste from it, it also ensures proper nerve conduction and recently it’s been discovered to have a role in our immune systems.
When the cranial bones get out of proper alignment, they start sending abnormal signals. We experience those altered nerve signals as pain, limitations in range of motion, organ function, sleep, hormones, digestion, etc…
Conditions like Parkinson’s, ADHD, scoliosis, autism, TBI, Autism, Migraines, and Neurodegenerative brain diseases have all been linked to altered CSF flow. TMJ vertigo, facial pain, Bell’s Palsy, and dizziness also respond very favorably to craniopathy.
Craniopathy rebalances the nervous system, allowing for corrected CSF flow and allows for the nerves and brain to start functioning normally again.
Craniopathy is likely the most intricate practice in chiropractic and is a specialization within Sacro-Occipital Technique.
